BP3_iGoogleScreenShots

Prior to my BP3_iGoogleScreenShots assignment, my iGoogle home page looked like this:

We were asked to change our home page and add specific gadgets.  So my new home page looks like this.

I was asked to create a FSO/AR tab on my page.  After completing this task.  My tab took on the interesting theme of my hometown's football team.  Roll Tide!
I my final page includes links specific to my upcoming research and even a gadget that I added for fun.  The gadget is a countdown link that I plan to change each time I have a pressing assignment.  Currently is counting down to my Lit Review....due on Nov. 2nd.

BP1-Welcome to my blog

Hello all!  Welcome to my blog.  I am a graduate student at Full Sail University, and my area of study is Education, Media and Technology.  Follow this blog and my journey through the EDMT program.  I hope to share with all of my friends all of my joys and frustrations.  Education is an ever unfolding entity.  I plan to examine my own approach towards educating my students, my daughter, and myself.  I am so glad that you are coming along for the ride.

I am a 9-12 grade teacher at the Tuscaloosa Center for Technology, in Tuscaloosa, AL.  My students can take my class each year of high school, if they chose to.  We broadcast a weekly student newscast called BCN-TV (www.bcntv.org).  The television show is carried on 3 television stations.

I am the mother of a wonderful 10-year old daughter, Schuyler.  She is the joy of my life, and very funny.  I have always been joker, and Schuyler and I get a kick out of finding the funny and any situation possible.

I came to education after working in the Music Industry for several years.  Around the end of the 90's, the business had started to really change.  The Internet was emerging, as were smart phones, iPods, and other devices that we can't imagine living without today.  However, in 1998-1999, we were still years away from Face book, Twitter, YouTube and........the covenant iPhone.  However, Music Industry vets were starting to get nervous. A few years prior to Napster, we all felt the winds of change in the music industry.  I wanted to stop traveling so much, and thought that I'd give myself a break for awhile.  Low and behold, new technologies swiftly changed the the climate of Entertainment.  Partnerships that took years to build, now could be gained via the internet, in mere seconds.  Music that the company once only had access to, was now immediately available, and for free! The party was officially over.

I sense the same climate rising in education.  I feel the winds of change quickly approaching.  Schools are losing kids by droves, just like record stores started to lose customers in the late 90's.  If there is not a radical overhaul in the next few years, the number of high school dropouts could increase rapidly.

So, I have decided to take a journey to what is just ahead.  This time choosing, not be be left behind!
